About 100 paintings and sketches illustrating the best samples from each period and style of Coulter's works will be featured. Coulter documented the development of maritime commerce in the Pacific, of the west coast and especially of the bay area from 1869 - 1936. His work is especially significant because it provides a visual time portal to the post-Gold-Rush-era of the Barbary Coast, the dramatic changes brought about by the city's rebuilding after the 1906 fire and the shift in maritime trade from sail to steam.
The exhibition will be mounted in the heart of Coulter's waterfront, the at 499 Jefferson St. (corner at Hyde) across from Hyde Street pier at Fisherman's Wharf.
Fine art poster of S.F. Fire 1906 available for purchase as well as stamp cachet from the exhibition.
Illustrated talks about Coulter's life and work can be arranged for interested groups. Contact Tom Coulter (510) 524-0525.
Exhibit runs from April 18, 2006 - October 31, 2006
Exhibition is open seven days a week.
