2019 Winner Dillon Acey
Dillon Acey is a senior at Jacksonville University majoring in Instrumental Performance. He attended Osceola County School for the Arts from 7th through 12th grade as well as the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra during high school. He performed in the Florida Music Educators Association's All-State Convention bands and orchestras for five out of six years, won the Osceola County School for the Arts Concerto Competition in 2015, and placed as a finalist in the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. He then received the Honors Woodwind Quintet Scholarship and chose to attend Jacksonville University.
While at Jacksonville University, he has performed with the University Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Honors Woodwind Quintet, Jazz Combos, Musicals, Clarinet Ensembles, and other chamber groups on instruments. As a soloist he performed with the First Coast Wind Symphony in 2016 and in 2017, the Jacksonville University Orchestra in 2017, as well as his Junior Recital, Honors Recitals, and the 2016 Terry Hall Rededication Concert.
Dillon has received the Wind Ensemble Award in 2017 and 2018, the Jacksonville University Featured Performer Award in 2017 and 2018, and Honorable Mention for the Northwest Florida Symphony Concerto Competition in 2018.
